Vision Crafting Workshop

First impressions from the Vision Crafting Workshop held last week in Kingston by Manifesto|Jamaica and powered by HELP Jamaica!.

The Manifesto Jamaica Vision Crafting Workshop is designed to help young people discover their innate gifts, define their ideals and outline plans to achieve their goals. The main themes the workshop covers are: visioning and goal setting, project planning and communication technique.

Manifesto Jamaica collaborated with HELP Jamaica! and Select n’ Start to deliver a pilot of the Vision Crafting Workshop on Saturday, November 18, 2017. The pilot was a one-day programme (7 hours) delivered in a presentation-based format, punctuated by conversation and interactive activities.

The workshop was attended by 20 young people ages 14 to 27, from predominantly low-income communities in Kingston and St. Andrew. Feedback received via the workshop evaluation form and video interviews recorded at the end of the workshop indicate that the primary objectives were achieved.

Structure & Content

The Manifesto Jamaica Vision Crafting Workshop was piloted as an intensive one-day programme (7 hours) delivered in a presentation-based format, punctuated by conversation and interactive activities. The workshop was comprised of 3 sessions: ‘Finding Your Why,’ ‘The Art of Vision Crafting’ and ‘Going for the Goal.’

The content presenters were: Jeffrey Azan – motivational speaker, entrepreneur and martial artist; Janine ‘Jah9’ Cunningham – recording & performing artist and yoga instructor; and Lesley-Ann Welsh – storyteller, project manager and Managing Director of Manifesto Jamaica.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the Vision Crafting Workshop are to:

1. Create an environment that encourages exploration and self-expression.

2. Provide guidance, encouragement and share tools that enable goal setting, and the achievement of those goals.

3. Simulate conversations, pitches and interviews that participants anticipate will be significant stepping stones to achieving their goals.
